Police arrested a suspected vehicle burglar in El Segundo Sunday and found some stolen cell phones and burglary tools inside his car.

Officers spotted the suspect’s car a little before 5 a.m. in the area of Pine Avenue and Loma Vista Street, where it had been driving with the headlights off and eventually parked in a red zone, according to El Segundo police Sgt. Hugo Perez.

“They seen him, contacted him and found the burglary tools,” Hugo said. According to the police sergeant, the suspect, Lynwood resident Benjamin Hernandez, 28, had an extensive criminal history that included arrests for weapons and drugs.
