Two cars crashed head-on in Lancaster, killing both drivers and injuring both passengers of one of the vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. Thursday on East Avenue E east of 70th Street East, the CHP reported.
According to a preliminary investigation, a 2000 Acura Integra was eastbound on Avenue E when its driver, a 20-year-old Rosamond man, lost control of the car for unknown reasons and veered into the path of an oncoming 2008 Honda Civic being driven by a 36-year-old Lancaster man.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passengers in the Acura, a 26-year-old Rosamond man who suffered major injuries and a 17-year-old boy whose injuries were moderate, were taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to the CHP, which reported that all of the parties were using safety restraints.
A city of residence was not immediately available for the injured boy.
