Sheriff’s detectives Tuesday circulated surveillance photos of a tattooed suspect who robbed a Sears department store of a pair of work boots in the Industry area at gunpoint.
The suspect, described as a 20- to 25-year-old Hispanic man with tattoos on his right forearm and on the back of his neck, stole the work boots around 1:30 p.m. Feb. 23 from the store in the 1600 block of Azusa Avenue, according to Detective Steve Fernandez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A loss prevention officer stopped the man when he tried to exit the store, but he took out a gun, pointed it at her and cocked the hammer, Fernandez said.
The store employee, “fearing for her safety,” put her hands up and walked away, Fernandez said.
The suspect made his getaway in a sedan, possibly a 1990s model Nissan Maxima with faded black paint and a license plate beginning with “7A,” police said.
Anyone with information about his identity or whereabouts was urged to call the sheriff’s Industry Station at (626) 934-3021, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
