A 33-year-old woman is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in connection with the hit-and-run death of an 80-year-old man in Monterey Park.

Cecilia Morales DeToledo was arrested at her home in Alhambra about 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, said Sgt. Brent Archibald of the Monterey Park Police Department. Killed in the Jan. 7 crash was Alhambra resident Kwailing Hong, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

Hong was struck by a black Kia Sedona about 4 p.m. that day in the area of Hellman and Hathaway avenues, according to Alhambra and Monterey Park Police.

The Kia was southbound on Hathaway Avenue when it struck Hong, who was crossing the street, Monterey Park police investigators said.

Hong was dragged beneath DeToledo’s SUV to the 2400 block of South Wetherhead Drive before she came to a stop, police said. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, Alhambra police Sgt. Jerry Johnson said.

DeToledo faces charges of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and driving without a license. She was arrested on a warrant issued by a Superior Court judge in Alhambra.

DeToledo posted $50,000 bail and was released about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to jail records.
