The shooting took place about 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 11500 block of Hamlin Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the back, said police Lt. Francisca Wheeling, watch commander at the LAPD’s North Hollywood Station.
Officers found him in the street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and paramedics took him to a hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition, police said.
The suspect, a man in his 50s, remains at large, Wheeling said.
The shooting may have involved a “love triangle,” she said.
A description of the gunman has not been made available, but anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call investigating North Hollywood Station detectives at (818) 754-8451.
After-hours and weekend calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7 and anonymous tips can be provided through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or lacrimestoppers.org.
