Authorities hope a $20,000 reward offer will lead them to the person who gunned down a member of the Carson High School volleyball team.
Justin Uy was fatally shot at 12:20 a.m. on April 13 at the intersection of Dolores and 228th streets in Carson, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a shots fired call in that area and discovered Uy down in the street, according to a sheriff’s sergeant.
Uy was hospitalized in critical condition, the sheriff’s department reported. He died Wednesday.
No suspect information has been released.
Players from Narbonne High held a moment of silence Friday before facing Carson High in a volleyball match. Narbonne High players also presented a lei in both schools’ colors to Uy’s brother Andrew, according to the Daily Breeze, which reported that another memorial for the slain player will be held following the Colts final regular-season home match on Tuesday.
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call sheriff’s Detective Scott Rodriguez at (310) 847-8319. Anonymous tips can be supplied through Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or online at http://lacrimestoppers.org.
