An attack on a special needs student at a Stevenson Ranch high school has led to an arrest, according to the sheriff’s department.

A video recording of the attack surfaced online from the Thursday incident at West Ranch High School in the 26200 block of Valencia Boulevard, according to Public Information Officer Shirley Miller of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley Station.

“On (Friday) April 22, one of the students involved was arrested and detained on a battery charge,” Miller said.

Some students banded together to show support for the special needs student and anyone else who might be facing bullying at the school. There was no immediate word on the victim’s condition nor what the student’s special needs are. No further details about the attack were provided.

Sheriff’s detectives, school administrators and William S. Hart Union High School District officials were investigating the incident and anyone with information about the attack was urged to call the Santa Clarita Valley Station at (661) 255-1121.
