A man about 60 years old suffered extensive burns in a fire in a three-story apartment building Wednesday in Winnetka.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department said. His name was not released.
The blaze broke out just before 6 p.m. at 20311 Sherman Way, between Winnetka and Mason avenues, with smoke showing from a second-floor unit of the Wood Creek Apartments, Stewart said.
Firefighters responded to the scene and contained the fire to a single apartment unit, quelling the flames in about 30 minutes, Stewart said.
Officials remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire, Stewart said.
