The drill is part of “America’s PreparAthon!“, a national preparedness event led by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and will take place at the corner of Fifth Avenue and West Adams Boulevard and at Benny H. Potter West Adams Avenues Memorial Park.
The drill will include a run-through of a five step neighborhood disaster response plan created specifically for the South Los Angeles area.
Volunteers who form a community emergency response team, or CERT, will demonstrate search and rescue, triage, communications and other operations they are trained to perform in an emergency.
A public safety fair with live music, food trucks and booths where residents can learn more about disaster preparation will take place after the drill.
