The body of apparent stabbing victim was found behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a tree about a block from Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center Tuesday.

Officers dispatched at 11:15 a.m. on a traffic collision call to the 4100 block of Valley Boulevard discovered a man with a stab wound to the chest inside the vehicle, said Officer Ricardo Hernandez of the LAPD’s Media Relation Section.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Hernandez said.

“We don’t know if was gang-related,” he said.

Hollenbeck station detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the death to call them at (323) 342-4100.
