The Sheriff’s Department sought the public’s help Tuesday to track down a man who robbed a discount store in La Puente at gunpoint.
At 3:51 p.m. on March 7, the suspect entered Sun 99 Plus Discount in the 14000 block of Amar Road and acted as if he was making a purchase, said Detective Steven Suarez of the sheriff’s Industry station.
When the cashier opened up the register, the suspect pulled out a semiautomatic handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the employee. He then reached over the counter and scooped up more than $300 from the cash register, Suarez said.
The gunman, who was last seen walking westbound from the store, was described as a 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8-inch Latino man about to 30 to 35 years old and weighing between 190 and 220 pounds. He had a tattoo on the back side of his head, near his right ear.
Detectives from the sheriff’s Industry station asked anyone with any information regarding the robbery or suspect to call them at (626) 934-3038.
