An SUV driver Sunday faced possible charges of drunken driving and hit and run following a crash in which a 66-year-old biker was killed when his motorcycle drifted onto the wrong side of a canyon road, CHP officers said.
The crash was on Soledad Canyon Road west of Aliso Canyon Road, according to California Highway Patrol records.
The motorcyclist was initially identified only as a the 66-year-old Reseda man.
The dead man’s 2012 Harley Davidson was westbound on Soledad Canyon and crossed into the path of an eastbound 2015 GMC Sierra, CHP investigators said. He was ejected from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, Bradley Russell McLeod, 56, of Palmdale, allegedly drove off. But his damaged vehicle broke down about a half-mile away where he was arrested.
He was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital for minor injuries, and he was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and hit and run in the Saturday evening incident.
The name of the motorcyclist will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to Investigator Selena Barros of the coroner’s office.
