A security guard was slightly injured Monday when masked suspects attempted to rob a Rowland Heights jewelry store where shots were fired.

Three male suspects wearing all black attempted to rob Hing Wa Lee Jewelers at 1569 S. Fairway Drive, near Colima Road, about 4:30 p.m., according to Lt. David Buckner of the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Walnut Station.

Buckner didn’t have any details about how the security guard was injured, but according to news reports he fell or jumped out of a second-story window during an exchange of gunfire with the suspects, who remained at large.
