A telecommunications company employee died while working on a utility pole in the rear of a home in the Valley Glen area Friday afternoon.

Officials said the cause could have been an “electrical incident,” but it was more likely a medical emergency.

Emergency personnel were dispatched about 2:50 p.m. to 6044 N. Ventura Canyon Ave., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The worker was unconscious and dangling upside down when rescuers arrived, according to Stewart and a witness at the scene, who said the victim’s work vehicle, with an AT&T logo on it, was parked at the location.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was brought down and pronounced dead at the scene, Stewart said.

“It is officially undetermined if this was an electrical incident versus a medical emergency,” Stewart said. “Initial indications are the patient suffered a medical emergency causing death, but (an) official determination will be made by (the) L.A. County coroner.”
