A man who fatally stabbed his girlfriend as they sat in a pickup truck in a Van Nuys alley last year was sentenced Thursday to 12 years in state prison.
Osmar Gomez, 42, of Van Nuys, pleaded no contest March 24 to voluntary manslaughter in the March 24, 2015, killing of Klaudia Y. Alas.
Gomez stabbed the 32-year-old woman as she sat in the front passenger seat of his pickup truck in an alley near Kester Avenue and Lemay Street after the two got into a violent argument, according to Deputy District Attorney Matthew Vodnoy.
Gomez called police and claimed the couple had been attacked by three men about four hours earlier, and he had lost consciousness from a stab wound. He was found next to the truck and was arrested the same day.
