A man in his mid-30s was shot and killed Wednesday night in the Hyde Park section of South Los Angeles.

Officers called about 7:20 p.m. to investigate a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the intersection of Florence Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard found the victim unconscious and not breathing, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Liliana Preciado.

An ambulance was summoned, Preciado said, but a news videographer reported that the man’s covered body was visible at the scene.
