A bicyclist about 50 years old was struck by a van and killed Sunday in Compton, authorities said.
The collision was reported about 10:30 a.m. at 1133 E. Compton Blvd., between Long Beach Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue, the sheriff’s department reported.
The van was going westbound on Compton Boulevard when it hit the bicyclist and then slammed into a building.
The building houses a real estate company that was due to open for business for the first time today, but no one was inside at the time of the crash.
The name of the fatally injured man was withheld pending notification of his relatives.
The motorist was taken to a hospital for examination, but no charges were pending, sheriff’s Sgt. Alex Kim told reporters at the scene.
