A Porter Ranch man pleaded no contest Monday to driving off with an undercover LAPD narcotics officer hanging onto the side of his SUV, crashing the vehicle in Granada Hills and leaving the officer with broken bones.

Grant Anthony Muldrow, 22, pleaded to one felony count of assaulting a police officer causing great bodily injury and was immediately sentenced to seven years in prison.

The officer was trying to arrest Muldrow on Jan. 15, 2015, and had his hand on the steering wheel when Muldrow took off, dragging the man alongside the vehicle as it reached speeds of up to 45 mph, authorities said.

The SUV crashed into a tree and a fence in the 10900 block of Haskell Ave.

The officer had several broken bones.

Muldrow was arrested following an hours-long manhunt that prompted the lockdown of several schools that afternoon.
