An arson investigator has determined that a small brush fire quickly put out Monday by firefighters in a parking lot adjacent to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena was intentionally set.

Lisa Derderian of the Pasadena Fire Department would not disclose why the arson investigator believed the fire was set intentionally, adding that authorities had no suspects or leads.

“That’s why we need the public to report suspicious activity,” Derderian said.     Firefighters were dispatched at about 9:30 a.m. to Lot H adjacent to the stadium at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, she said.

“This is the area we spray with Phos-Chek (a fire retardant) as a preventive measure every year right before the Fourth of July activities,” she said.
