Power in the Studio City and Valley Village areas of the San Fernando Valley was back on Friday after a crow flew into a 34,500-volt circuit breaker, triggering an equipment failure at a power Distribution Station and knocking out electricity to about 15,500 customers.
As of late Thursday night power was restored to all customers affected by that morning’s outage in Valley Village, Valley Glen and Studio City, said Amanda Parsons of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. She said “our crews undertook an extensive repair process at our Distributing Station.”
The outage was reported at about 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Distributing Station 57, leaving numerous traffic signals without power.
While there was no official word, it was presumed the crow died in the incident.
