Studio City residents Sunday had quite a scare as a brush fire broke out near some homes as temperatures in the San Fernando Valley soared, but firefighters quickly put out the one-acre blaze before any structures were damaged.
The fire broke out just before noon in the 11200 block of Laurie Drive, and the blaze was extinguished within 30 minutes, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Concrete drainage ditches on three of the four sides of the fire assisted firefighters in their efforts to battle the blaze and reduce the spread of flames, Scott said.
There were some homes in the immediate area of the fire. None was damaged, he said. No injuries were reported.
