Long Beach officers Tuesday mourned the death of a police dog in a shootout with a suspect who was also killed.
There were few details yet available, but authorities did say that police went to the 28-hundred block of East 15th Street seeking a man wanted for multiple shootings.
The shootout happened about two hours into the standoff with the suspect. The 4-year-old Belgian Malinois named Credo was rushed to a vet’s office, but couldn’t be saved. Police have yet to release the suspect’s identity and they provided no immediate information about how the dog was killed.
