A 32-year-old man was shot and killed Monday in the Chesterfield Square area of Los Angeles, according to police.
The attack took place at the intersection of 62nd Street and Harvard Boulevard about 12:15 p.m., said Los Angeles police spokesman Officer Mike Lopez.
The man was dead at the scene, Lopez said. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The shooter left the scene in a vehicle and there is an active search going on in the area for that gunman, Lopez said about 1 p.m.
A motive for the attack was unknown.
