A Covina man was in custody Tuesday for allegedly shooting his former roommate in the eye with a BB gun when the victim returned to retrieve some belongings, police said.
Officers were sent Monday at 4:30 p.m. to a residence in the 1100 block of North Barranca Ave. and found a 25-year-old man with an eye injury. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, said Covina police Sgt. Gregg Peterson.
His condition was not disclosed, nor was his name released.
“It was determined that his injury occurred when he was trying to retrieve property from his ex-roommate,” Peterson said. “Officers contacted the ex-roommate, Alfonso Jaramillo … who told the officers the victim had been at his residence, and he shot him one time with a BB gun because he thought the victim was going to break into his garage.”
Jaramillo, 46, was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and was being held on $30,000 bail, Peterson said.
