
A trucker was killed Thursday when a big rig collided with a sedan on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Castaic and went down an embankment, trapping the driver inside, authorities said.
The accident happened on the southbound 5, north of Lake Hughes Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Stephan Brandt.
The driver, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, Brandt said.
The accident was reported at about 11:35 a.m. A SigAlert was issued due to the shutdown of all southbound lanes at 12:02 p.m., but two lanes were reopened at 12:14 p.m.
