A woman was killed Monday morning when her Jeep Cherokee crashed into a light pole and rolled over several times on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sylmar, authorities said.
The crash took place on the northbound 5 Freeway, just north of the Foothill (210) Freeway, near Balboa Boulevard about 2:45 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Leanna Torres, 27, died at the scene, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter. Her home town was not known. No other injuries were reported.
The crash shut down the number 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 lanes for the death investigation and to clear the wreckage, according to the CHP. By about 6:30 a.m., all but the slow lane had been reopened.
