A 32-year-old man suspected in separate attacks, three of them sexual assaults, on four women in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles has been arrested in the Westlake District, police said Wednesday.

Pablo Carlos Pineda was arrested about 5:15 p.m. Tuesday near MacArthur Park, according to Lt. Saul Rodriguez of the Santa Monica Police Department, whose investigators made the arrest.

Pineda is suspected of committing two sexual assaults on the same beach in Santa Monica, one on Jan. 13 and another on Feb. 5, as well as a violent attack on April 15 in the 9000 block of Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills and another sexual assault, this one on July 2 in the 1300 block of Westgate Avenue in West L.A., Rodriguez said.

He was booked on suspicion of forcible rape, assault with intent to commit rape and assault by means producing great bodily injury in connection with the Santa Monica attacks, according to the lieutenant.

Pineda was jailed in Santa Monica in lieu of $385,000 bail and was due to appear at the Airport Courthouse on Thursday, according to sheriff’s online inmate records.

Reviews by the district attorney’s office of the West Los Angeles and Beverly Hills cases are pending, Rodriguez said.

The attacks were investigated by Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills police, with assistance from the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, he said.
