
Firefighters knocked down a structure fire Tuesday night in a three-story apartment building in Van Nuys.
The fire was reported shortly before 8 p.m. at 6600 N. Woodley Ave., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The fire was confined to one unit on the third floor.
It took 31 firefighters about 14 minutes to put out the fire.
A search found no occupants in the unit, Stewart said, but a damaged gas line was found.
A salvage operation was in progress to check for possible water damage to the units below.
