A man was fatally shot Monday during an argument at a Pacoima home, and his alleged killer was later arrested.
The shooting occurred about 10:45 a.m. in the 13000 block of Montford Street, at the corner of Glenoaks, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim, whose family identified him as 35-year-old Jason Newman, was pronounced dead at a local hospital about 1:30 p.m.
Three people were detained just after 1 p.m. during a traffic stop, and the alleged shooter — whose name was not immediately released — was subsequently arrested, investigators at the scene said.
Newman was the unmarried father of a 4-year-old daughter and worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District as an electrician apprentice, his father told ABC7.
The suspect may have believed the victim had shown him “disrespect,” which led to the shooting, LAPD Lt. Michael Kozak told reporters at the scene.
