A car crashed into a utility pole Thursday, downing power lines across a major thoroughfare in Laguna Beach and leading to traffic jams in the city.
The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. in the 2600 block of Laguna Canyon Road, according to Laguna Beach police Sgt. Tim Kleiser. The driver wasn’t injured, but power lines came down and the road had to be closed. It was not clear when it would be re-opened, Kleiser said.
Some residents and employees of businesses in the area were being allowed access, but most traffic was being diverted to Crown Valley Parkway to the south or to Newport Coast Drive to the north along Pacific Coast Highway, Kleiser said.
