Jayson Louis Lingen, 57, pleaded not guilty in connection with the alleged attack Wednesday evening in the 70 block of Aquarium Way.

The teenager was playing Pokémon Go when Lingen allegedly yelled at the youth and hit him in the head with a metal pole, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Lingen has a prior conviction from 2013 for assault with a deadly weapon, according to the criminal complaint.

He is due back in a Long Beach courtroom next Friday.

If convicted as charged, Lingen could face up to 13 years in state prison.
