An erratic motorist may have been the cause of a crash between a car and motorcycle in the mountain vineyards along Mulholland Highway above Malibu Sunday.

California Highway Patrol dispatchers got a call about an car being driven erratically on the two-lane highway west of Kanan-Dume Road. The car was observed crossing the center lines prior to the crash.

Moments later, at 11:55 a.m., the call came in about a crash and a downed motorcyclist.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the area of Mulholland Highway and Kanan Dume Road at 11:53 a.m., where they transported at least one person from the crash, according to a county fire department dispatcher.

A SigAlert was issued a little after 12:15 p.m closing the westbound lanes of Mulholland Highway, west of Kanan Dume Road for approximately 30 minutes.

The westbound lanes were opened at 12:44 p.m., according to the CHP. The eastbound lanes remain closed to allow a tow truck to load up the motorcycle.

A red Kia sustained major front end damage in the crash, according to the CHP.
