Police want your help in finding a masked gunman who fatally shot a 31-year-old woman working at a barbecue stand in the parking lot outside a Harbor City auto parts store.
A 34-year-old man was wounded but survived the shooting that took place about 1:50 p.m. on July 29 outside a Pep Boys in the 1300 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Both victims were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where the woman — identified as Jennifer Ann Dickerson of Los Angeles — was pronounced dead.
Dickerson, an aspiring rapper who worked three jobs to support her music career, was cooking for her uncle’s barbecue business when she was shot.
Her mother told NBC4 that Dickerson was her second child to die as a result of gun violence.
The wounded man was struck in his right bicep and was treated at the hospital and released, police said.
Investigators Wednesday released the security video in the hope someone will recognize the suspect from images showing him fleeing on a maroon or red, older-model GMC Jimmy SUV that was also caught on camera.
A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed, but police do not believe Dickerson was the gunman’s target.
The shooter was 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build. A black mask covered his face and he was wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
