Metrolink was operating normally Wednesday after a tragic scene was cleared in which a person was killed on the tracks by a train in an apparent suicide near the Northridge Station.
The victim was struck about 6:35 p.m.Tuesday by train number 121 on the Ventura County Line, which was bound for Moorpark from downtown Los Angeles, authorities said.
The victim, whose gender and age were not immediately disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 8700 block of Wilbur Avenue, near Parthenia Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
No one aboard the train was injured. Passengers, however, were delayed for hours as they were taken off the train after the death and sent on their way aboard buses.
The fatality was an apparent suicide, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.
