Did he slash his girlfriend before stabbing himself in the neck?

A man and woman were stabbed Thursday in Jefferson Park in an apparent incident of domestic violence, police said.

Officers had a hard time gathering information about the incident due to a language barrier — the couple spoke only Spanish — but from what they were able to understand, the man stabbed his girlfriend with a knife, then stabbed himself in the neck, according to police.

Officers went just before 1 a.m. to a residence in the 2700 block of West 30th Street in response to a report of two people suffering from stab wounds, said Sgt. V. Salguero, the watch commander at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division who gave only his first initial.

The two were taken to hospitals. Their conditions were not immediately reported.
