Police Wednesday investigated the killing of a man in the Westlake District, police said.
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting that occurred about 4:50 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of South Lafayette Park Place, between Rampart Boulevard and Hoover Street, according Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department‘s Media Relations Section.
The victim, who was in his 20s, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Im said.
The suspect, who is in his early- to mid-20s, fled the location, possibly in a black Honda Civic.
Although the circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately available, Im said it was not gang-related.
