Divers on Friday found a body — possibly that of a young man missing since last week — in a car in the California Aqueduct in Littlerock.

The orange Dodge Dart was pulled from the water near 106th Street and Pearblossom Highway early this afternoon.

A state Department of Water Resources crew reported to the sheriff’s department this morning that they found damage to a fence along the aqueduct and the California Highway Patrol was then notified.

The vehicle was found at the bottom of the waterway and sheriff’s divers found the body of a male inside, a CHP officer told reporters at the scene.

Family members of the missing young man, identified in news reports as 18-year-old Gustavo Santana, said he had been on the way to his job at McDonald’s restaurant late last week, but didn’t make it and hasn’t been heard from since.

Authorities have not positively identified the body, but family members and friends believe the car and remains are Santana’s and they planned to hold a vigil at the site Friday evening.
