A man was stabbed in his arm and stomach near Richman Park in Fullerton Friday, but is expected to survive.

The stabbing occurred in the 700 block of South Highland Avenue about 4:50 p.m., according to Fullerton police Sgt. Jon Radus.

Officers initially responded to a report of shots fired but did not find any evidence of a shooting, Radus said. Instead, they found a man down with multiple stab wounds. The unidentified victim was taken to a hospital .

A motive for the stabbing was unknown. A suspect description was not available from police.

During the search for the suspect, Richman Elementary School was placed on a lockdown for about 25 minutes, Radus said.
