Authorities Tuesday identified a Kern County motorist who was fatally shot in the southwest Los Angeles area in a dispute involving an SUV that was blocking a street.
The shooting occurred about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 1500 block of West 103rd Street. Alex Montes Deoca Carreno, 24, of Rosamond, died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
A man who was riding in the vehicle with Carreno told deputies they were eastbound on 103rd Street and pulled up behind a dark SUV that was blocking the street, according to Deputy Mike Barraza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The man said they yelled at the driver to move his vehicle. In response, one of the men in the SUV got out and started firing a gun at them, hitting the driver. The SUV then sped away from the scene, Barraza said.
Deputies asked anyone with information on the crime to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers, (800) 222-TIPS.
