The suspected robber of a 74-year-old woman who broke her hip fighting off an attack at an ATM was behind bars Thursday.

Simon James Yousif, 24, was booked on suspicion of strong-arm robbery and being held on $85,000 bail, according to Orange County Jail records.

The victim, whose name was withheld, was robbed about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday after she had just withdrawn cash from a Bank of America ATM at 2701 Harbor Blvd., police said.

Yousif allegedly snatched the victim’s wallet and she fell down and broke her hip while trying to get it back, police allege.

Officers found the suspect hiding behind a tree on the south side of Adams Avenue, west of Pinecreek Drive, and he made an unsuccessful attempt to run away, according to police, who allege he was carrying the woman’s ID, cash and social security card.
