A box truck crashed and overturned Wednesday on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Sun Valley, and four lanes were blocked for hours creating a pre-dawn traffic mess, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash took place about 2 a.m. on the northbound freeway just south of Lankershim Boulevard, said CHP Officer Francisco Villalobos.
“Right now it looks like a single vehicle crash but we don’t know yet why the truck overturned on the freeway,” Villalobos said early Wednesday. “The crash is still under investigation.”
The accident blocked the Number 1, 2, 3, and 4 lanes, according to Villalobos. A SigAlert was declared just before 3 a.m. by the CHP. The lanes were finally cleared and the SigAlert cancelled around 5:20 a.m., according to the CHP.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, Villalobos said.
