Two suspects were in custody Thursday after a $6.1 million marijuana bust in the unincorporated Rosewood area near South Los Angeles.

Members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Bureau’s Marijuana Eradication Team, along with narcotics investigators, served a search warrant at a warehouse in the 200 block of West 134th Street, between South Broadway and South Main Street.

The warrant was part of a follow-up investigation from information obtained by informants, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The location housed a large “sophisticated” marijuana growing operation and approximately 2,700 live plants were seized along with about 20 pounds of finished marijuana product, authorities said.

The recovered marijuana in the Wednesday action has a combined estimated street value of $6.1 million, authorities said.

Two adults were arrested for suspicion of cultivation of marijuana and booked at the Century Regional Detention Center but their names were not immediately released, according to Deputy Tina Schrader. The suspects are being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Lieutenant Baudino (562) 946-7125.  If you prefer to remain anonymous, you may call L.A. Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
