A 21-year-old man pleaded no contest Wednesday to involuntary manslaughter for his father’s stabbing death at their West Covina home last year.

Maverick Jacob Jimenez also admitted an allegation that he used a knife in the commission of the crime, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Jimenez stabbed his father, Joey, during a fight with the 49-year-old victim, said Deputy District Attorney Marie Cox. Officers who were called to the home in response to a 911 call found the victim dead on the floor.

His son, who was arrested a short time later, is facing six years in state prison. Sentencing is set for Jan. 4 in a Pomona courtroom.
