A motorcyclist was killed Sunday after colliding with a van, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crash took place shortly after 2 p.m. at 15100 Nordhoff St. near Noble Avenue, LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

Firefighters on scene found the adult motorcyclist dead following a collision between the biker and the passenger side of a van that was carrying three people, Humphrey said.

A 19-year-old woman who was sitting in the front passenger seat was trapped inside the van for 17 minutes before she was extricated and taken to a hospital in serious condition, he said.

The female driver of the van and a male passenger were not injured, Humphrey said.

The intersection of Nordhoff Street and Noble Avenue remained closed this afternoon in all directions while the LAPD investigated the incident.
