A man was critically burned Thursday in a suspected marijuana-related explosion in a Hollywood apartment complex.
The Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of Cahuenga Boulevard around 2:45 a.m. in response to reports that a man had suffered severe burns to his face, chest and hands, said Lt. Brent McGuire of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollywood Station. The man was transported to a hospital in critical condition, he said.
While inside the apartment, firefighters discovered evidence of a makeshift lab to extract hash oil — sometimes called honey oil — from marijuana, McGuire said. Arson investigators as well as narcotics investigators were summoned to the scene.
