Love Trumps Hate sign held by a protester.

Protests that followed Donald Trump’s election to the White House continued in and around Los Angeles Thursday as college and high school students, including one group that blocked a freeway near downtown, voiced their disdain for the president elect.

Dozens of high school students claiming to be protesting Trump’s election marched along streets near USC.

Students at San Gabriel High School took part in a walkout, and a pre- planned “Love Trumps Hate” rally was staged on the UCLA campus.

At about 3 p.m., a small group of protesters blocked traffic on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in the Boyle Heights area, backing up vehicles near a busy downtown Los Angeles transportation hub.

Some protesters entered the freeway again near Eastern Avenue shortly before 5 p.m., prompting a shutdown of westbound lanes for about 30 minutes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Sheriff’s officials and CHP officers quickly moved in and cleared people off the freeway and prevented a larger group gathered at the top of an on- ramp from making its way onto the highway.

No arrests were immediately reported.
