Authorities Saturday hunted the hit-and-run killer of a 41-year-old woman who was struck by a large, pricey SUV while walking in a Gardena crosswalk.

The crash was reported at the intersection of Marine and Memoli avenues, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman, who was from Gardena, was walking south in a crosswalk at the intersection when a vehicle, believed to be a gray Chevrolet Tahoe with chrome wheels and tinted windows, turned left at the corner, CHP investigators said.

The Tahoe, which can cost more than $60,000 new, then hit the woman in the crosswalk, and drove off eastbound on Marine Avenue in the Thursday morning incident. The woman was treated at the scene by L.A. County fire paramedics and taken to Harbor General Hospital where she died, the CHP said. Her name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information on this hit-and-run driver was asked to call the CHP’s South Los Angeles office at (310) 516-3355. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
