The coroner’s office Sunday released the name of a 34-year-old man who appears to have shot himself at an airport hotel in Burbank while standing in the valet area near the front of the structure.

While there was a convention underway at the hotel, it wasn’t know if the victim was attending that gathering.

The dead man was identified as Justin Malone of Burbank, said coroner’s Lt. Brian Kim.

Police responded at 11 p.m. Thursday to a call of shots fired at the Los Angeles Marriott Burbank Airport at 2500 N. Hollywood Way. Officers found a man’s body, and a gun was recovered at the scene, said Burbank police Sgt. John Pfrommer.

The man’s body was found in the valet area outside the hotel, said Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.

There were no outstanding suspects, Pfrommer said, adding that the shooting might have been a suicide.

Pfrommer said a convention was being held at the hotel but it wasn’t immediately clear whether the man was an attendee.

Burbank police asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to call them at (818) 238-3000.
