Investigators Wednesday sought the public’s help in identifying a rapist who attacked a woman asleep in her Maywood residence.

The victim, who is between 30 and 40 years old, was attacked between midnight and 4 a.m. Sunday in her home in the area of Slauson and Carmelita avenues, according to Sgt. Betty Lascano of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau.

The woman was home alone when the attack occurred, Lascano said.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet 2 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build and partial facial hair. He wore a dark hoodie.

The sheriff’s department encouraged area residents to keep their doors and windows locked and to keep the areas around their homes well lit.

Anyone with information about the suspect was urged to call the Special Victims Bureau hotline at (877) 710-5273.
