Two young children who may have not been strapped in properly to baby seats and two adults were seriously injured Thursday as two vehicles crashed in South Los Angeles and one person was detained.
The collision occurred about 1:50 p.m. in the 300 block of West 108th Street, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Two girls, one 8 months old and the other about 3 years old, were ejected from one of the vehicles, Scott said.
It wasn’t known if they were in legally required baby seats with restraints. There was no word if the injured adults who were thrown from their vehicle were wearing seat belts.
The children, and a man and a woman, were all seriously injured and taken to a hospital, Scott said.
One person was taken into custody, according to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im.
He could not confirm a broadcast report that the detainee was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
